Infection
Control
Universal
Precautions
We follow safety procedures established by the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention and the American Dental
Association. They are used for every patient to prevent the transmission
of infectious diseases. Every
dental staff involved in patient care always uses gloves and
uses masks and eyewear when appropriate.
A new pair of gloves is used for each patient.
Sterilization
All handpieces are sterilized between patients. We follow specific heat sterilization procedures outlined by
the CDCP and the ADA. Sterilization
utilizes very high temperatures; we use an autoclave, which
involves steam under pressure, and a chemiclave, which involves
chemical vapor. Disposable
items, such as needles, are discarded following special
procedures, and new ones are used for each patient.
Cleaning
the Examination Room
All surfaces, including the dental chair, dental light, and
drawer handles and countertops are cleaned and decontaminated
after each patient. Sharp
items and anything contaminated with blood or saliva are
disposed of following special procedures.
We
implement and follow rigorous procedures for infection control,
ensuring that you receive the safest, most comfortable, finest
dental care possible. |
